Okay so for a while I have been asking questions regarding names for my babies due 2/19/09 and everyone in my family was aware of me wanting to name my baby girl (the only twin we know the gender of) Cecelia, well, my sister, who just had her baby, named her Cecilia! I AM SO UPSET!
I confronted her about it and asked her why on earth she would do something like that when she knew how long it took us to chose a name and she said "Oh I'm so sorry I really liked the name and you've still got a while to go so I thought you'd reconsider."
I was so angry and overwhelmed I was crying. I explained to her that I was happy for her but that I was very upset (she had her baby yesterday and has been trying to call all day today but I've been too upset to talk to her about it) Its not the end of the world, I realize that, my husband has been attempting to fix things saying we have two other names we love but they're not the same and I'm so disheartened.
I wouldn't be selfish and name my daughtr Cecelia now because its not fair to cause her so much confusion but I'm really upset. Anyway, I'm so sorry this is so long, here's the question, are these replacement names alright? Keep in mind that we both love the first one even though its popular
Emma Charlotte and Felicity Audra (If both are girls) or
Emma Charlotte and either Noah Gabriel or Gabriel Jude for boy/girl
You can pick the boy's name you like best if you want...sorry again to be so long winded but this is really effecting me and I think I'm probably just being malodramatic but...still...
Baby Name DRAMA! Please HELP!?
I don't think you guys should try to make them feel better by telling them you have two other names. They should realize the impact this had on you and how direspectful it was to name her that without even discussing it with you beforehand or giving you warning. Obviously you're family so it's something that will have to blow over in the end but I don't think you should let them off the hook so easily.
That being said I love Emma Charlotte. I also love the middle name Audra. Not crazy about Felicity but it's ok. It's sort of a long name for a child and I can't figure out a nickname for it.
I also love Noah Gabriel but I think Gabriel and Emma make a better pair than Noah and Emma...that's a bit rhymey.
Sorry about all this. I know they is the last thing you want to be dealing with right now. In all honesty when it's all said and done whatever name you choose becomes your child. I'm sure in the end you'll decide you wouldn't change it for the world. Congrats!

Reply:That is some drama, I think you're very right to be upset. Just be warned, Emma is all over now. It's the modern day "Katie" of 20 years ago. Be prepared for your daughter to have 2 or more other Emma's in all her classes.

Reply:Aww.. I'm sorry your sister did that to you. apparently she's got some issues. That's pretty messed up. I'd be really upset too. Names are so hard to choose, and it hurts when someone steals your choice.
Anyway..
I like your other choices. I think I like Gabriel Jude a Tad bit more than Noah.. but Emma and Noah sound better to me than Emma and Gabriel..
either way, I think they are all fine. :)
Reply:My take on your sister is that is somethibg she did on purpose and you two need to figure out why she would do something so vengeful to you and your husband. Rhere is a deep rooted reason for her action. Secondly, Emma is an extremely popular name but it is because it is pretty. All the names you have chosen are classy. I recently saw a variation of Emma......Emmalyne. Its just a thought. Oh and you could use Cicilly in place of Cecilia. Again, just a thought. :)

Or if your sister's daughter doesn't go by Cecilia you can call your daughter Cecilia.
You have every right to be mad. Your sister knew it was your name that you were planning on naming your child and she took it unrightfully without your approval. She didn't even tell you till after.

Amelie (omm-uh-lee)has a nice flow like Cecilia or Amelia it has that classy sound and you could call her emmy for short since you like emma

Reply:My cousin did the same thing with his daughter. Jade has been my favorite name for a long time and he took it as his daughter's middle name. I actually found out at the shower, she was born last Thursday =). Well I'm pretty much over it now because I found a name that means a lot to me and my husband. Anyway Emma Charlotte and Gabriel Jude are my favorites. Emma and Gabriel have always been my favorite names. But my husband didn't like Emma and we chose Gage instead Gabe. Hope I helped.

Felicity Emma- I like this better than emma charlotte :)

As far as your poss sons name, i don't like Gabriel for a first name i think you should use it as a middle name, I like:

Reply:Cecily is similar (Ses-sih-lee), but not the same as Cecelia - different enough you could use it if you choose. Cecily Arielle? Cecily Nicole? Cecily Noelle?
Or perhaps Celestine? (seh-les-Teen)

I can't choose a girl name because I don't care for the middle names of either one - jmo. Felicity Emma sounds very pretty. Emalia (in my opinion) sounds better than Emma, and you can still use the Emma nick name. Emalia Celestine? Celestine Felicity?
