Baby name help!?

We won't find out for another few weeks what we're having (plus playing with names is always fun)


For a girl we were thinking Nevaeh, or Ayla (pronounced eye-la)


and for a boy Kaleb, or Ethan... but we could also use some help for boy names as we're not sure we 100% love either one.

I like Ayla. It is beautiful and uncommon. I personally do not like Neveah, and the fact that it is so trendy makes it less appealing to me. I have seen Ayla spelled Isla as well. Do you like Aurora, with a nickname of Rory? Aurora sounds "heavenly" and Neveah is the word heaven spelled backwards.





I like Kaleb and Ethan. Some other names you might consider are Dylan or Elliot. I especially like Elliot.

I do like the traditional Scottish spelling of Isla, as in the actor Isla Fisher, far more than the variant Ayla. And I'd love Caleb with a C, but I think swapping out the C for a K is awkward.

Reply:For the love of all that is holy DO NOT USE NEVAEH! It is the trashiest name in the world. It screams knocked up 16 year old trailer park trash. It has no etymological background aside from the fact that is is heaven spelled backwards. Which many religious people find offensive as spelling it backwards is reversing it and the reverse or opposite of heaven is hell.





Ayla is a nice Hebrew name but I perfer the form Ayelet (eye-el-et). Another great name with this prononciation is Isla. Which I love to bits.





I like Caleb but Kaleb looks ignorant.

Reply:I like Ruby Imogen, Phoebe Zara and Audrey Carolina for girls names. My favorite is Imogen, it's cute and not over common. To me all three of those girls names sound "aged" and not overcommon, they sound nice together.


For boys names, I like Flynn Harrison, Finn Elijah and Lucas Noah. Finn and Flynn sound nice because they are similar. In my opinion, they're not too similar, they sound cute together. Hope my opinion helps.

We won't find out for another few weeks what we're having (plus playing with names is always fun)


For a girl we were thinking Nevaeh, or Ayla (pronounced eye-la)


and for a boy Kaleb, or Ethan... but we could also use some help for boy names as we're not sure we 100% love either one.

I like Ayla. It is beautiful and uncommon. I personally do not like Neveah, and the fact that it is so trendy makes it less appealing to me. I have seen Ayla spelled Isla as well. Do you like Aurora, with a nickname of Rory? Aurora sounds "heavenly" and Neveah is the word heaven spelled backwards.





I like Kaleb and Ethan. Some other names you might consider are Dylan or Elliot. I especially like Elliot.

Reply:For the love of all that is holy DO NOT USE NEVAEH! It is the trashiest name in the world. It screams knocked up 16 year old trailer park trash. It has no etymological background aside from the fact that is is heaven spelled backwards. Which many religious people find offensive as spelling it backwards is reversing it and the reverse or opposite of heaven is hell.





Ayla is a nice Hebrew name but I perfer the form Ayelet (eye-el-et). Another great name with this prononciation is Isla. Which I love to bits.

Reply:I like Ruby Imogen, Phoebe Zara and Audrey Carolina for girls names. My favorite is Imogen, it's cute and not over common. To me all three of those girls names sound "aged" and not overcommon, they sound nice together.


For boys names, I like Flynn Harrison, Finn Elijah and Lucas Noah. Finn and Flynn sound nice because they are similar. In my opinion, they're not too similar, they sound cute together. Hope my opinion helps.

I want to name my baby Akili , its a form of Achilles. Most people associate it with a


weakness, his heel, but I want to name my boy Akili becouse Ive admired the greek myth hero . Is this a good name for a boy?

Topanga is a beautiful name, I always liked it. Don't listen to people who say it's bad because it's from a TV show... I'm sure there are lots of British girls named Hermione and nobody expects them to do magic!





As for nicknames.. pick something simple and normal, because (like with my daughter) you'll be calling her that name almost exclusively. My daughter doesn't even know yet that her name's really longer!!





I liked the suggestion Angie.. it's normal, it's easy, and she can use it in school without getting picked on. (I was thinking "Toto... what a dog!")

Topie, Penny, TM, Tee whatever you can invent. (I kind of like Topie). Who knows, she might be a "Red" or something you wouldn't have thought of before.

I think Skylar is too trendy sounding and Lelind sounds a bit stuffy - like something handed down to a third generation boy "Leland Cunningham Walker the third".

A name on our list, that is similar to Lelind and could be used for a girl is Malinda (you could spell it Melinda). Lindsey has some similarities to Lelind as well.





I can not think of any boy names that have similarities to Skylar, other than Kyle.
