Baby name? What does everyone think? Honest answers please!!?

I like the name Astrid for a girl.

Baby name? What does everyone think? Honest answers please!!?
I like it a lot...it reminds me of a girl with confidence in her, very intelligent and a chatterbox too lol... if you like it then use it!!! i dont think at school, little kids will pick on someone because of their name. Every second kid has a unique name these days. (from my experience) kids will pick on other kids because of their looks or the way they talk or something. if i was a little kid in Astrid's classroom, i would be her friend :D
Reply:I think it's a lovely name. I like unusual sounding names myself. But you have to take into consideration the level of harrassment that the kid will receive for being unique. Every time her name is called in school, the person calling it will stop everything to comment about how unordinary the name is. Which, depending on her tolerance of ignoramuses, may or may not be okay. It's up to you. Good luck.
Reply:I absolutely love the name. I am not sure if it is too old for a little girl though. I say if you love it use it. Try pairing it with a little more common name that sounds a little younger.

Astrid Alyse

Morgan Astrid

Astrid Claire

Blaise Astrid(maybe not common but sounds cool)

Astrid Elisabeth

Astrid Brielle

Ayla Astrid
Reply:Its not my style, but if you like it, go for it.

Just as a side note, don't believe what people say about getting made fun of for her name. As a teacher, I hear a lot of teasing, and none of it is about the child's name. There are Kaitlyns who are 'popular' and Kaitlyns who get picked on. Names have nothing to do with it.

I also grew up with a unique name, I was the only one in my school with it, and I LOVED it! I loved not being Ashley A or Ashley B. Some of my friends even named their dolls after me because it was different.

Good luck!
Reply:well....an Aphid is a little green bug that eats roses

...an Asteroid is a chunk in space flying and flying and flying

....Astride means to walk in-step with others

...so Astrid.......could be called ...As-tired by the other kids

.............anyway, you might want to try again or work on a modification.
Reply:I'm being Honest so don't be mad.

I don't like it at all!

Sorry but true =[

I guarantee she will change her name when old enough or go by something different.

I'm in high school and trust me... Kids will make fun of her.

Sorry just being truth full and trying to help you and her out.

=]
Reply:Think about it this way, would you want that name for yourself? I would say no, for multiple reasons.

One, it's simply a strange name.

Two, kids are immature and she'll probably be made fun of for the "***" sound in the beginning of her name.
Reply:I like it. Perhaps it wouldn't top my list of favorites but it's lovely enough.

As for being picked on, kids are cruel. They'll find a way to pick on any name if they really want to. And if not the name, something else.
Reply:something you should keep in mind is, if you saw a resume with that name on it what would you think? If you were a third grader and there was a kid at your school with this name what would you do...
Reply:to be seriously ohnest with u i dnt like it

my best advice wud b 2 choose a normal name or search for something exotic, but existent
